N-SCALE PAPER BUILDINGS

i went into the club one saturday, to find sitting in my display a set of N-SCALE paper builings left there. (im wrtting this in july) and no ones asked about them, or mentioned anything about them being given to me, or accidentally left there.

so, i have done nothing with them. just in case they do belong to someone in the club. and may have forgotten they put them there.

if they are for me, very nice gesture, mr/mrs anonymous! ill use them as base modules for other scratch built buildings in styrene.

if they are left for me, THANK YOU to whom ever donated them.

GRAY BROTHERS EMAILED ME BACK!

 Photobucket

i certainly didnt think it would come as fast as it did, but i recieved this email within 2 days of my sending off to them.

Hi Michelle
Thanks for the kind words about our structures
We are inspired by historical pictures of railroads and we are inspired by other modlers
From time to time I see on ebay a z scale  ruler that you can buy (ill need to look online for this item)
I use acrylic paint and pastels to do my aging looks on  structures
I don't believe there is much available in z scale how to books
You can use the locomotive and boxcars from your set for scale.  Remember a box car is 15 foot tall wich would be just a little taller than a turn of the century building.  A lot of people don't realize that there was 12 foot between  floors on old buildings from the 1930s (interesting to know)
I f you wish I will send you a lilltle paper template of a z scale store front , so that you can see the door and window size.  You would have to give me your address.
Thanks for your e-mail and good luck with your project

so, off my address went. i saw this am, my email had been viewed, so all i have to do now is wait, again..lol
for the mail to deliver me a paper store front as a template. this will be awesome! i cant wait!

1-17-2011 SUPPLIES TO MAKE SPECIALTY CARS & SCENERY

as i was on the hunt for the supplis to make my BLING cars for my BLING engine, i also found (thanks to the hubby) stuff to make and design one of a kind SCENIC things as well. for instance, several charms were just the right size to use as 'statues' for a zoo, and another charm, can be petinad up to be an old cross on a church.

i also found some CLOVER GEMS for a ST PATTYS DAY CAR (gemed up in green gems). i thought an additional HOPPER would look neat with some gold coins inside the hopper. you could use plastic gold for that. finding the right size is a challange.
another idea i had was to somehow have a rainbow leading from one car, to the "pot o gold" (finding a small enough pot' for the gold has also been a challenge.)
a larger scale (HO) would suite the plastic pots that can hold the gold plastic gold coins.

ENJOY!

erasers (found in the checkout isle) can be used for tops of specialty buildings ( a bit of WHIT and WHIMSY)

yes folks, ESTER eggs, small, just the right size for about 3-4 in an N SCALE hopper, specialty EASTER car.
another idea, small bunnies, and chicks in another hopper do represent EASTER.

SENT AN EMAIL OFF TO GRAY BROTHERS (Z SCALE ARTISTS EXTRAORDINAIRE!)

Photobucket
everytime i look on ebay at z scale stuff, i always run across the gray brothers creations.
amazing! these things arnt much bigger than a quarter (always shown in each picture) and they have such detail.

anyway, i looked up their website, found it, and even noted the email to email them.

sent the email off inquiring about how they can gauge what is a Z scale building, do they use any form of templates, are there any books, or resources they know of..

because i want to do some for myself.

i seriously didnt think my email would have even gotten consideration, to be honest. and if it did, i wouldnt hear from them for a while.

not even an hour went by and i got the notice (because i request one with every email) that my email had been read!

WOOOOO HOOOO!

now, all i have to do is wait on a reply!

1-15-2011 THE SUPPLIES TO CREATE "BLING" ENGINES & CARS

ok, so i have an engine ive BLINGED out, and 1 car i have BLINGED out in RED, and i really want to be able to do each color in the rainbow, as well as do specialty holiday cars, like: VALENTINES DAY with red, pink, and clear stones, either on 1 car each, or all on one car, with HEARTS on the cars as well.

THAT idea requires SUPPLIES.

i really have a wonderful husband, who lets my creatice side flourish (as long as there is cash flow, lol).
when i told him i needed supplies (ready for when we got the box cars) we went right out and got some stuff.

heres what i came out with:

ENJOY!

Marklin: 1998 Christmas Car

Photobucket

hubby sent me a link to go look at this Z scale specialty car. said he thought it was of a nativity scene.
i collect nativities, so i HAD to go check it out.

couldnt tell, to me it looked like 5 wise men (instead of the 3 were always told about in the christmas stories) standing at a window of a bakery where santa was on the otherside, inviting them in for...cookies?

so, i took the name, and GOOGLED it (google is my best freind, im on that thing a hundred times a day searching out different things, love it!)

well, the name of the car sent me to another page (naturally, lol) and i found an entire selection of HO train stuff that could very well be in Z scale as well!
ill have to get each one of them!

looks like allot of them are in HO scale, and just a select few in actual Z scale, wel...i might just have to own HO stuff now....lol
